This is due to the introduction and strengthening of new rules.
“We have more than 80,000 Ukrainians in Norway. We must take steps that will allow us to provide protection to those who need it most. We must return to specific measures. There is no doubt that there will be an increase,” said Minister of Justice Emilia Enger Mel.
She said that several Ukrainian refugees have already had their applications rejected. So far, no one has been deported, but some people have not received a place to live.
In addition, applications for collective protection may be rejected for those who come from an area considered safe by the Norwegian Directorate for Aliens (UDI).
At the beginning of September, UDI expanded the list of the following territories:
Lviv region;
Volyn region;
Transcarpathian region;
Ivano-Frankivsk region (added);
Ternopil region (added);
Rivne region (added).
