According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, displaced persons paid over €124.5 million more into the country’s budget than they received in social benefits and assistance in the first quarter of 2025 alone.
The Labor Minister stated that the positive effect extends beyond tax revenues. Ukrainians have become indispensable workers in sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, agriculture, construction, and others. In many cases, without their participation, these vacancies would remain unfilled—either due to staff shortages or local residents’ reluctance to work in these positions.
The Minister also emphasized that money earned by Ukrainians largely remains in Czechia: it is spent on local goods and services, thereby providing additional revenue to the budget.
The ministry forecasts that this trend will only strengthen in the near future—profits from Ukrainian participation in the economy will grow, while spending on their support will decrease.
